Glynn Camera had its start back in the early 70's
as a part of a photo studio - Studio West - which began selling a few camera and
darkroom items. This portion of the business gradually blossomed and grew large
enough to move into it's own storefront across Newcastle Street. In 1978 Robert
Haase bought Glynn Camera and spent many happy years in downtown Brunswick
helping folks with all their camera trials and tribulations. In 1990 we moved to
our present location on Cypress Mill Road adding a wide variety of in-house
photographic services. We closed our retail location on Sept. 1, 2006 to
concentrate on family matters and future business ventures.

Robert Haase, owner and president of Glynn Camera, Inc., has announced
that Glynn Camera will close its doors on September 1, 2006.
"It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that Glynn Camera will be
closing it’s doors for the last time on September 1.
Glynn Camera has been in operation since 1978, beginning in Downtown
Brunswick and moving to it’s present location on Cypress Mill Road in 1989.
The photo business has changed dramatically over this period. During the
80’s cameras became increasingly easier to use with the advent of fully
automatic exposure, focusing and film advance. No longer was it so necessary
to be a photo enthusiast to create technically decent pictures. The 90’s
brought about the beginning of the digital camera revolution. A few short
years later we have very sophisticated cameras of all descriptions and many
decent photographic quality home printers.
Glynn Camera was a part of this
revolution. We have sold quite a few digital cameras and have helped many
people learn to use their cameras, whether they were bought from us or other
sources. We have invested heavily in digital printers, scanners, computers,
kiosks and online software to better serve our customers, both film and
digital.
Many of our customers have continued to
come to us for their photofinishing but many have found other sources for
their photos. The speedy rise of digital cameras and the Internet has
created an entirely new phenomena in which photos are shared online via
email and other means, or simply stored on hard drives, CD’s and memory
cards and hard copies are never made.
It has become a greater and greater struggle for a family business to
compete against such great odds in the photo industry.
As America and Glynn County has
increasingly turned to huge mass merchants and disembodied Internet
retailers in their buying habits, Glynn Camera has strived to provide
quality service for their customers.
My staff, my family and I thank you for
giving us the opportunity to serve you."
